Introduction: The Challenge of Pure Motives in Digital Ministry
Navigating the realm of social media as a platform for sharing faith-filled content comes with its own set of challenges. In this week’s episode of the Digital Ministry Podcast, Aaron Good (a pastors’s assistant) asked a critical question: “How can we keep our motives as pure as we can and still push the Gospel hard in the social media world?” Here are some Biblical insights and tips that I hope will help answer this.
Be On Guard
Psalm 119:9 (ESV) How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.
Staying rooted in the word of God is essential to guard our motives. By prioritizing hearing from God over seeking validation from online followers, we can maintain a sense of authenticity and purpose in our digital ministry endeavors.
Write The Vision
Habakkuk 2:2 (NKJV) Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.”
It is important to clarify the vision that God has entrusted to us. By clearly defining our mission and purpose in sharing the gospel online, we can align our actions with divine intent. So, don’t forget why you are doing this and what God has called you to.
Seek Wise Counsel
Proverbs 24:6 (NKJV) For by wise counsel you will wage your own war, And in a multitude of counselors there is safety.
Building a community of supportive friends and advisors helps in staying grounded, encouraged, and accountable in our digital ministry pursuits. Find some good friends that know how to give good advice. While it will be beneficial at times to find fellow Christian content creators, it’s equally helpful to have those people that aren’t to help you maintain the proper motives.
Conclusion: Embracing the Journey of Pure Intentions
In a digital landscape often clouded by metrics and external validation, this is the roadmap I use for nurturing pure intentions in digital ministry. By anchoring ourselves in God's word, staying true to the vision, and surrounding ourselves with a supportive community, we can navigate the online space with integrity and purpose.
